Publications and Appearances

Chris's story, "Taking Up Smoking," will appear in the fall issue of The Adirondack Review, "an independent ... quarterly of literature and the arts published by Black Lawrence Press. It is dedicated to publishing quality poetry, fiction, artwork, and photography, as well as interviews, articles, book reviews, and film reviews." Check back later this summer for links.

He was invited to speak at the University of Southern Maine's Stonecoast Writers Conference about freelancing. He'll be there Friday, July 25.

Gray's Sporting Journal will print Chris' short story, "Buckets," in an upcoming issue. No date has been set -- check back for updates.

Chris's essay, "Bottom of the Ninth," which remembers his grandparents' loves for literature, baseball and each other, and how those loves became mixed under the pressures of age and illness, appeared in a recent issue of Ducts.org. He was a featured reader in November at Ducts.org's Trumpet Fiction series at KGB Bar in New York City. Thank you to all who attended.

His story "Christmasness" appeared in the December issue of Word Riot.

His short story, "Fresh Coat of Paint," appeared in the inaugural issue of The Hub: Boston's Online Literary Occasional, and is available online at Hub.

In July Chris was a featured writer at the Boston Fiction Festival, along with Thaddeus Rutkowski and Emma Wunsch. His short story "New Myths of Man and Spider" appears in the current issue of the Boston Fiction Annual Review, the festival's companion journal. Copies of B-FAR are still available. News

Dan married his longtime girlfriend J.L. Stevens, an editor at the Portsmouth Herald, on Saturday, July 21. They'll be honeymooning in Austin, Texas. Congratulations to them both.
